Mission Builders Summer 2024 Newsletter

Happy August!
I hope everyone has had a great summer with lots of travel and loved ones. Mission Builders has had a busy summer too!

Thank you to everyone that joined us for our July Mission Builders Lutheran Hour on Zoom! It was great to see all of your faces and hear how your summer has been.

We will be doing another Zoom Lutheran Hour this fall, in November, keep an eye out for updates as we get closer.

In June Mission Builders had its first "2x2" project. Mission Builders 2x2 is a new program that allows us to do "mini" projects that only take a couple week, along side our summer long traditional projects. Great for people that don't have a ton of time, or can't travel to larger projects.

At Camp Metigoshe Terry Thiel, Rourke Richardson, Don Harris, Richard Kornkven, and others built a maintenance shed in just over one week!

Looks like they had a great time!

We will be looking for more Mission Builders 2x2 projects next summer, the program is something that we will be promoting at the Lutheran Outdoor Ministries conference this fall.

On August 18th we will begin our second Mission Builders 2x2 Project at Camp Flathead. We will be removing the previous outdoor auditorium seating and installing new benches. Thank you to Alan and Sue Ost, Arnie and Mem Fichtenberg, Arvin and Sue Pletcher, and others who have offered to help!

Some project updates:
Lutherwood Oregon is moving along, they are working on some engineering changes after updating their plans and site. Lutherwood is still planning on beginning work Summer 2025, with a soft target of Mission Builders being on site in July. Please keep this project in mind when thinking about next summer, Lutherwood is very excited about Mission Builders participating.

We are also still talking with Jeremiah Community in Fredricksberg, Virginia. This is a planned community of tiny homes for the unhoused in the area. It is unlikely that they will be ready to build next year, but we are hoping to work with them in 2026! Their unique plans will make a great experience for Mission Builders, and we look forward to learning more from them as they move along.

Beyond this two projects, we are continuing to talk with camps and churches around the country. Most recently we have talked with a camp in Iowa, and a church in Arizona, and will be updating you as these projects get closer to being ready.
